ENDEAVOUR SCHOLARSHIPS

The Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship provides financial support for international students for up to 4 years to undertake a postgraduate qualification at a Masters or PhD level either by coursework or research in any field of study in Australia.

 

 

The Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship aims to:

  • enable high achieving international students to undertake a postgraduate qualification either by coursework or research in their chosen fields of study in Australia
  • strengthen bilateral ties between Australia and the participating countries
  • showcase Australia’s education sector
  • strengthen mutual understanding between the people of Australia and recipients home countries, and
  • build international linkages and networks.

Conditions of Scholarships and Fellowships:

·Do I have to be a certain age to be eligible for an Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship?

·Recipients must be aged 18 years or over at the commencement of their Fellowship. There is no maximum age limit.

·Can I undertake paid employment while on an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship?

·International recipients – Recipients must obtain permission from their Host Organisation and confirm the conditions of their visa with DIAC in order to determine whether they are allowed to undertake paid employment while they are in Australia on their Scholarship or Fellowship. International Endeavour Research Fellowships (including Cheung Kong and AIEC) and Endeavour Executive Fellowship recipientsare not permitted to work at any time during their Fellowship.

·Australian recipients – Recipients must obtain permission from their Host Organisation and confirm the conditions of their visa in order to determine whether they are allowed to undertake paid employment while they are in their Host Country on their Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship. Endeavour Executive Fellowship recipients are not permitted to undertake paid employment at any time during their Fellowship except in exceptional circumstances and with approval from the Department.

·What are the consequences of breaching an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship?

·The Scholarship or Fellowship and the Scholarship or Fellowship Contract may be terminated at any time for misconduct, for failure to comply with the laws of Australia, for breaches of the conditions of the Scholarship or Fellowship, for failure to abide by the rules of the Host Organisation and/or for failure to make satisfactory academic progress (where applicable).

·Can I seek an extension of an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship?

·Funding is limited to the duration stipulated for each Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship.  

·Can I apply for an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship if I have already started my research, study or professional development program in the host country? 

·Applicants who have already commenced their program at their host organisation are ineligible to apply.

·Can I change my study or research program once I have started my Scholarship or Fellowship?

·You must undertake the program outlined in your application. 

·Apart from deciding the organisation/institution that best meets the needs of my proposed program, are there any other factors I should consider before choosing my destination?

·Yes. You should investigate and obtain information about the city in which you will live and make sure that it has adequate facilities for your individual needs.

·I have been granted another scholarship (including an APA – Australian Postgraduate Award) to undertake study/research in Australia. Am I eligible for an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship?

·I am an Australian postdoctoral research student in receipt of an Australian Research Council (ARC) grant. What is the implication if I receive an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship?

·The ARC grant is administered by the Australian Research Council (ARC). For further information regarding conditions please go to the ARC website.

·I have previously completed a Government Scholarship/Award, can I apply again?

·Applicants who currently hold or who have completed an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship and/or Australia Awards Scholarship or Fellowship administered by AusAID after 1 January 2012 are not eligible to apply.

·Applicants are not eligible to apply for an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship in a category in which they have already completed an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship.

·How can I apply for an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)?

·IPRS is managed by Australian universities. All enquiries regarding IPRS need to be directed to the university at which you wish to conduct your postgraduate research. Contact details for Australian universities can be found at the Study In Australia.
